What are the signs that a guy likes you?

Firstly, as I have alluded to in other articles on this website, guys like a lot of women – too many to pursue any sort of relationship with in a hundred lifetimes.

But given that you are probably more interested in the signs he likes you enough to seek a relationship with you, we will focus on these.

There are a number of signs that a guy likes you. Some of the classic ones are the following:
 

1. He keeps checking you out from a distance (and may look away if you try to make eye contact with him)

This is the type of thing that a guy who doesn’t know you will do, especially in places like bars and gyms where you are both likely to be in the same place for an extended period of time.

The key thing here is that he keeps checking you out. For if he has a bit of a look and then you don’t catch him doing it again, he most likely has decided against you. And out of all the signs he likes you, this is probably the one least likely to be employed by a guy who already knows you to at least some degree.

2. He seems to hang around a lot

This can be the case both for guys who know you and those who don’t know you. They just seem to gravitate towards you and follow you around whenever you move.

This might involve them talking to people close by you and trying to listen in on your conversation.

For guys who do know you, you may also find that they always seem to pop up at places where they know you are going to be.
 

3. He makes an effort to interact with you

Guys will often find any excuse that they can to interact with a woman that they like.

So if a random guy makes a comment or starts talking to you, it probably means that he likes you. He might have a very plausible excuse, like needing directions or wanting to know the time. But if this was really the case, he could have asked anyone, right?
 

4. He gets nervous in your presence

When a guy likes you a lot, he will probably shows signs of being nervous in your presence, especially when you are making eye contact with him.

He may stutter, talk really fast or in a disjointed way, and could display nervous twitches.

The most common one though is that he will smile a lot – too much in fact! He might even have a cheesy grin the whole time. This is one of the most important signs he likes you!

 

5. He tries really hard to keep conversations between the two of you going

When the conversational thread seems to be dying, he may go to a lot of effort to resurrect it, or to start a new one before an awkward silence happens. He might say, “Soooooo …. ” a quite a bit.
 

6. He shares private thoughts and feelings with you

This might include discussing his passions in life with you, or some of his hopes and dreams.

The key distinction here is that the guy is trying to create some sort of intimacy with you through such an approach.

Although this may not be one of the most common signs he likes you, it should not be overlooked.
 

7. He touches you when he is talking

This might be on the shoulder or back. Less confident guys will probably not do this though.
 

8. He flirts with you

This can take many forms, such as teasing you, smiling at you, and saying/doing outrageous things (eg. smacking your ass).

But be careful though, as there are guys who you would put in the “flirt” category. They build their self-esteem up by flirting with a lot of women and getting them interested, when they have no real interest in these women themselves (other than possibly just for sex).

 

9. He sends you a Facebook friend request, when you don’t really even know him that well

Of all the signs he likes you, this one is probably the most unreliable though, since these days people go around adding everyone who they even vaguely know in order to boost their friend count. However, this could be a reliable signal if he does some of the other things on the list when he is around you.
